Children’s Facilities in Shopping Centres

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009

Shopping centres in the UK are offering crèche facilities for parents who would like a little light relief while running around the shops. The shopping centres themselves recognise that you’re more likely to spend longer in the shops and hopefully make them more revenue if you know your children are safe and having fun close by. If you are not sure what to look for in a crèche there are a number of guides which will help you decide. They should have had an ofsted report which will help you see officially the standard of the children’s facilities. Don’t forget you can always go along and have a thorough look around before you decide.

The ofsted inspection is designed to assure government, parents and the public of the quality of the childcare provided. They measure and make comment on a number of aspects of the crèche facilities including the location, the effectiveness of the provision of childcare, protection of children from harm or neglect, and helping them to stay safe. They also cover educational requirements, and measure the provision for helping children achieve well, and enjoy what they do and make a positive contribution.

They should have a main play area, many with state of the art stimulating environments with ball pools, soft play areas toys and games. Art and craft activities are usually on offer, which help to keep the children happy, and give them a reminder of the day they have had. You may even find some play stations, dance mats and DVD’s in some of the larger centres. If you are looking for a party venue then the shopping centre crèche could be a viable option. Some offer exclusive use of a particular children themed room, with decorative party thrones, party hats and invitations, place mats, serviettes, plates and cups for the party food.

While the children are having fun at the crèche, you can visit some of the department stores or shops within the shopping centre. Most centres have at least 2 department stores, and a number of select shops from the main high street shops such as Next, Boots and Monsoon, as well as some unique boutique shops. Alternatively to help you keep an eye out on your kids whilst shopping, shopping centres may offer a range of free facilities buggies and parent and baby facilities including baby changing facilities which will you pre-dominantly find in the washroom facilities of restaurants.

Shopping For Children’s Clothing

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

There are a number of reasons that you may be shopping for children’s clothing and no matter which one refers to your situation; it can often be quite a hassle.  Choosing which styles, sizes or brands of children’s clothing can be quite a difficult task.  As everyone knows, children grow up very quickly. A single size may last for about a year or so. After that, the child has outgrown the size, and need a larger size. Here are some tips that you may find useful when shopping  clothes for your children.

When searching for suitable clothing for infants make sure that you invest in durable and comfortable clothes. Babies are quite messy and their clothing needs to be stain and tear resistant. With that being said, many children’s clothes of this nature are brand name and very expensive. However you don’t always have to stick to the high end fashion brands and can find deals in some surprising place.

Used children’s clothing can be a great option for many parents. You already know that your child will most likely grow out of the clothes very fast so you also know that there is a lot of used clothing that has barely been worn. Search around for discounted clothes that may still look brand new or may have never even been worn. Used children’s clothing for girls is much easier to find than boys simply due to the strain little boys put onto their clothing at such a young age.

Being prepared is probably the best advice that you can get when shopping for children’s clothing. Prepare yourself for certain growth spurts and beware of the ever changing needs that your child will have. During the stages of potty training you will want to steer clear of one piece outfits that can be a hassle to get on and off. Also, the easier the clothing you buy is to put on, the more likely it is that your child will be able to dress themselves at a younger age.

Shoes are also a very important part of a child’s wardrobe and the importance of these items are often overlooked. While it is of utmost importance that the shoes you buy are comfortable you should always buy shoes a bit larger than they need to be at first. This will allow your child to wear the shoes for longer and leaves a bit of room for growth. If you buy shoes that fit snug and tight, they may end up only lasting a few short months.

Another great way to find some good deals for your child is by shopping during back to school sales. Often times, department stores and online stores will put on large sales for many varying outfits in the month before school starts and it is in your best interest to take advantage of this. Shopping during sales of this nature can often allow you to afford three or four outfits for the usual cost of just one. Keep in mind that our child is still growing and purchasing too many outfits may lead to some never actually being worn. As everyone knows, children don’t care about outer appearances that much. What they do care about, is having lots of fun. In other words, you can expect your children to behave in a rough manner, regardless of what clothes he is wearing.
